K9 Unit

Operational Security refers to; Training of Dog Handlers in different disciplines, providing of security dogs through rental contract, establishing of Dog Units, and Dog Unit staff capacity building. 

Basic Protection Dog Handler
  • SAQA Unit standard- Protection Dog Handlers: Care for a service dog & Handle a service dog to deter crime
  • 3-5 day course
  • No dogs required when doing the training with us.
  • Qualification: DH-1/2 Protection Dog Handler
  • PSIRA qualifications is fundamental for Security Officers
Advanced Protection Dog Handler
  • SAQA Unit standard- Protection Dog Handlers: Care for a service dog & Handle a service dog to deter crime
  • 3-10 day course
  • No dogs required when doing the training with us.
  • Qualification: DH-2/3 Protection/Patrol Dog Handler
  • PSIRA qualifications is fundamental for Security Officers
Patrol Dog Handler
  • SAQA Unit standard- Patrol Dog Handlers: Handle a service dog to assist with the apprehension of a suspect
  • 2-5 week course
  • No dogs required when doing the training with us.
  • Qualification: DH-4 Patrol Dog Handler
  • PSIRA qualifications is fundamental for Security Officers
Detection / Sniffer Dog Handler (Nose Work and Detection)
  • SAQA Unit standard- Detection Dog Handlers: Handle a trained service dog to assist with the detection of substances
  • 2-5 week course
  • No dogs required when doing the training with us.
  • Qualification: DH-5 Detection Dog Handler
